Follow the yellow path
Core nodes are the sequence we recommend. You do not need every optional box to get hired or ship.
A step-by-step path to become a DevOps engineer—Git in Azure Repos, CI/CD with Azure Pipelines, and the rest of the stack you actually ship with.
Inspired by the structure of public DevOps learning roadmaps, rebuilt for Azure and the DevFuze Tools way of shipping.
Core nodes are the sequence we recommend. You do not need every optional box to get hired or ship.
Each topic sticks when you apply it: a repo with branch policies, a YAML pipeline, a Bicep module, a monitored app.
Azure is deep. Pick AKS, Platform Engineering, or FinOps once Linux, Git, Pipelines, and IaC feel natural.
DevOps is a cultural and collaborative mindset: communication, integration, and automation between development and operations so software ships faster and more reliably. It is not a job title by itself—anyone in the delivery flow can work this way.
Organizations hire DevOps engineers to specialize in the practices and tools of continuous delivery. They sit between developers, testers, and operators: releases, pipelines, and the platform that makes time-to-market shorter without dropping quality.
Automate the path from commit to production: CI/CD, infrastructure as code, cloud configuration, security checks, and monitoring. On this roadmap that means Azure Repos for Git, Azure Pipelines for CI/CD, and Azure Monitor once the app is live.
Learn a language for automation, Linux, Git, then one cloud and one pipeline end to end. You will not master every box. Follow the numbered yellow path, ship small projects, then specialize (AKS, GitOps, FinOps).
Follow the numbers. Yellow topics are the recommended path. Azure Repos is Git hosting; Azure Pipelines is CI/CD.
